THE STUD

AT HOME

It wasn't until 2003 when both Michael and myself first became acquainted with the Welsh Mountain Pony , this was after 30+ years in the world of Point -To-Point horse racing. We acquired our first Mountain Pony from Llanybydder Sales, he was a cheeky, brazen, independent self motivated Welsh Section (a) Mountain Pony called Doylan Howson Hofis-y-Slaes . The cheeky, mischievous character with his true Welsh spirit helped us fall instantly in love with this wonderful breed . Thus we now have eight other ponies at home and this will be increasing over the next year or so . We are expecting our first crop of homebred foals in 2010.

The stud was registered as EMMARR STUD in 2005, we're trying to learn and understand as much as possible. Just when we thought we had sussed it, another spanners thrown into the works. However, they tell me that's showing !!

We now believe we have some idea about the type of ponies we would like to breed. We do respect others opinions on breed lines however, the breed lines we are liking specifically are that of Dyfed, Criccieth, Penboeth, Eppynt.

l am still adamant that we can breed a super foal from our beautiful Friars and Pontgam mare, they both will remain in our stud for life. Given that variety is the spice of life we felt it to be appropriate to keep a couple of non breed line specific ponies but do intend to pre-dominantly work on the above mentioned breed lines.
