Welsh Mountain Ponies at EMMARR Stud

Hofis was born in the heart of Mid Wales and was breed by the Doylan Stud. he is by the lovely palomino stallion Hollyland Picasso and out of Llanerch Duster from the famous Llanerch family lines. On acquiring Hofis it was never our intention to use him as a show pony, mainly because we didn't have a clue about what we were doing and secondly we were very new to this world of showing ponies, he was solely bought to be a companion to the thoroughbreds which we owned at the time.

This little fellow is probably the most mischievous pony we have ever had the pleasure to know and own. He will upturn everything in sight, he also been known to unlock the other ponies stables making it a "free for all". He frequently can be seen paddling in the water bowls in the paddocks.

Not only is he mischievous but very independent and sometimes refuses to be caught, not because he doesn't want to come in but would prefer to walk in by himself.

Hofis is the most likable friend to have around the yard and always brings a smile to one's face..

He has had limited experience in the show ring at county level, he does have completely straight movement but it is generally felt that local level showing would be more suited to him predominantly because he isn't fully up to height.

Togram Jaybird can boast to having some of the best breeding around. His sire Blackhill Picalo by Weston Dixie out of Blackhill Tina was top rated stallion in 2004. Blackhill Picalo won the RWAS on no less than three occasions, winning as a yearling 2 year old and 3 year old. He has also qualified for the in-hand championships at the Horse Of The Year Show on two occasions. He has also done a lot of winning abroad.

His dam Neuaddfach Skylark by Revel Coco out of Neuaddfach Solitaire has also been a RWAS champion. This beautiful grey would nave graced anyone's yard and was a total credit to the breed.

Both Blackhill Picalo and Neuaddfach Skylark are the two Section (A) featured in the limited edition painting "The Pride Of Wales" by Phillipa Porley (2001)
