POINT-TO-POINTER
Hunzas Choice aka Giddie:- If dreams are
horses then Giddie was that one golden
dream. I could not praise this horse
enough even if l had 1000's of pages to
express the way l feel. He was my
world, my best friend and soul mate.
Giddie did everything asked of him from
racing, showing, eventing and hunting.
He was sensible enough to put a complete
novice up, and let them hack him down
the road...even when race fit. What a
superstar. Our giddie who was never a
world beater and was never great at
anything, but he was so so reliable this
made him my little superstar. The
memories l have of Giddie will stay with
me forever, a better friend you could
never find. He just didn't know how to
be evil or nasty. He died one night in
his paddock from a Pulmonary Embolism.
This just devastated me, even more so as
it was on the day of my youngest
brothers funeral. I was away in
Sussex, my loyal friend was in Wales.
Right to the very end Giddies loyalty
prevailed, l just wish l had the chance
to say goodbye to him. Even though you
died in 2002 your remembered every day
with so much affection and love. RIP
my best friend.

POINT-TO-POINTER
This lovely but strong horse was a
quick and very chancy jumper at his
fences, he occasionally took liberties
refusing to listen to his jockey and as
a consequence he sometimes paid the
price by falling and ending up on the
floor. Thank goodness he was retired
soon after leaving us before he
seriously hurt himself. He could have
been such a classy Point-To-Pointer.
My involvement with this horse was very
limited as he was shared loan between
three people. He only ran once in our
colours, yes and ended up on the floor
when running exceptionally well, he
fell at the second last fence whilst
leading, in a three miler. Against my
better judgement this cheeky
character was sold on as he was deemed
to have been an inappropriate horse for
a novice rider. He definitely
warranted an experience jockey as he was
very quirky and extremely bold. I wish l
had been just a few stone lighter, l
would have loved to have had him at home
with me !!

POINT-TO-POINTER
This genuinely nice character who was
full of ambivalence strong willed and
totally independent. When racing he
would decide that he wasn't in the mood
for it that day so would plant himself
at the start. Alternatively he would
jump fences like they were 20feet high
ballooning every one with a horrendous
cat leap. He earned a reputation as
being too quirky and was nearly banned
from running on the local race
track...hey but do you know l loved this
little fellow with all my might. You
certainly got a active hack. he would
jog all the time would always go side
ways except when in a canter. He wasn't
strong but incredibly wilful and l loved
him for that. He has spend the last few
years in retirement with a friend who
loves him so much she will even hack him
out...!! You can see from the photo
what a cheeky person he was.

POINT-TO-POINTER
Diamond Way aka Rupert:- This
beautiful dark bay gelding standing at
16.3hh. He was a friends
Point-To-Pointer, but unfortunately he
passed away and therefore l took on
Rupert. What a dream horse he has
been...he started his racing career as a
two year old. He went through the
whole racing world the flat hurdles and
chasing. He entered the Point-To-Point
world at the age of 8yrs old. I
believe he ran 144 time in his career.
He has acted as masters lead horse in
the hunting field. In my opinion he
would have made an outstanding eventer.
He was a great show jumper, being
capable of jumping 5ft courses with
ease. He was so bold across any
country and very clever with it !! The
most important factor was, that this boy
had brakes and would listen to voice
command. He currently is living a
happy retirement in an outstanding loan
home in Cheshire. He is regularly
hacked out and is undoubtedly loved by
all who know him.

POINT-TO-POINTER
Powersurge
aka:-Plug This diddy little pint sized
bay gelding standing at 15.1hh was one
of the most brilliant jumpers l have
ever had the pleasure to be involved
with. He was such a genuine race horse
and never ever ran a bad race. He won
races under both rules. National Hunt
and Point-To-Pointing. For a short
while he held the accolade of being the
top rated ladies Point-to-Pointer in the
South East. He was not only a good
Point-To-Pointer but also a fantastic
hunt Scurry horse. He still enjoys his
retirement from racing by being
regularly hacked out and hunted
periodically.

POINT-TO-POINTER
Nature
Perfected AKA:-Inky. This lovely big
bay gelding, with an ink splash over his
hind quarters stood at 16.3hh. He was
purchased at Ascot sales to go
Point-To-Pointing, and was brought from
Mr Jimmy Frost after his early career
was spent in the National Hunt scene.
He had a few runs over hurdles and
fences. This horse proved to be a very
strong gelding especially when racing,
but when hacked out was an absolute gem.
He did however, have a fetish for red
vehicles. The early morning postman
was always aware when he saw us hacking
down the lane!! Inky was sold on again
at Ascot sales some 7-8yrs ago to a
family in Northamptonshire.
Unfortunately he is one of the only
horses l have not been able to make
contact with. If anyone knows of him
please let me know that he's doing ok.
He was such a character and is very muched missed from the yard.

POINT-TO-POINTER
l have
felt so privileged to own some of the
most stunning looking horses around and
Act Assured is no exception. This
gorgeous short coupled black mare stood
at just 15.1hh and was just meant for
the teenager who had dreams of reaching
the very top. What a super Hunter pony
she would have made. She had a fantastic
confirmation along with elegant
movement, this combined with a huge
natural jump made her a great prospect.
However, me being young and just into
racing she was sent Point-To-Pointing
and ran a creditable 5th of 16 runners,
in her only race with compliments from
her jockey of "a brilliant jumper and
sure to win many races". She was
related to some seriously good stock
being by Satco. She was also closely
related to the giant Satchmo who stood
over 18hh and completed the Foxhunter
Chase, over the Grand National fences at
Aintree. Sense prevailed, and I saw
the light of day deciding that it was a
waste to race this stunning looking
mare. She was therefore sold on.

POINT-TO-POINTER
Salachy Run aka Sammy:- What a
stunningly beautiful horse he was.
This giant light bay gelding stood at
17.1hh. He was purchased as a
Point-To-Pointer from Peter Beaumont's
yard via Ascot sales. This horse had
so much character including the nasty
habit of "tanking off" with you when
mounting......you had to be quick as he
was very sharp. I ended up on the
floor on numerous occasions. Boy o'
boy what an exhilarating ride he would
give you when you managed to stay or
even get on him. He was my favourite
Point-To-Pointer and was also the most
successful. He was sold on after two
fantastic years to a yard in
Cambridgeshire. Although l saw him run
for his new owners unfortunately without
success, l never heard or saw him again.
If anyone does know of this lovely
animal please let me know what and how
he is doing.

FIRST SECTION B SHOW PONY
This lovely little Welsh Sec B, probably
my first real introduction into Welsh
Pony types. We showed her with much
success, however she was just on loan to
us and eventually was sold on to do
ridden classes. Her competitive steak
made her a real winner.

A FABULOUS QUIET HACK
Pride Of Dublin aka
Dublin:- This giant of a horse was
purchased as a four year old. He stood
then at 17.2hh...what a stunning boy he
was. He was brought from a dealers
yard in W Sussex. Apparently he came
over from Ireland as part of a "job
lot". Sadly this horse didn't have the
best of starts and this was evidenced by
two massive indentations in both sides
of his neck probably from being
clamped. This horse had a right to be
evil to everyone he met but this genuine
fellow never had a malicious bone in his
body. I was nagged at for almost a
year by a friend to sell him to them,
they were in the same yard at the time
so this is what l eventually did. Now
it is 18-19 years on and she still owns
him to this day. She has had many hours
of pleasure and success in the show
ring. A wonderful character who
deserved the best that life could give
him...and he got it. I am so pleased we
helped Dublin to be given the
best life possible.

ONE OF THE BEST HUNTERS IN THE COUNTRY
Conna aka
Newnew:- This amazingly friendly
handsome chestnut stood at 17.1hh. He
had the most gentle nature and always
looked for the attention. This horse
was acquired after he had a serious
hunting accident in the field causing
horrendous hind leg problems. He was
given the chance to have a quiet life
with us. He came sound again after six
months box rest and a year off in total.
He generally was used as a light hack
but he could be quite quirky, especially
if the hunt was in the vicinity. He
was certainly a horse that you had to
keep your legs off, otherwise he would
be gone with you. We were very lucky
to have this brilliant hunt horse who
was as brave as they come. He spent
the next seven years with us until his
leg problems just deteriorated again,
this combined with regular bouts of
colic just became to much. We just
couldn't see him suffer anymore and
along with the vet we made the decision
to have this handsome boy put to sleep
in 2004. Conna had a fantastic
reputation as he was one of the only
horses that Princess Diana ever sat on.
We certainly miss his cheeky personality
around our yard

POINT-TO-POINTER
Buckle down aka Wez:- This stunningly
handsome individual stands at 17.1hh.
He started his racing career in a
professional yard. We brought him to
go Point-To-Pointing but he had such a
soft temperament and was just so so
genuine we never actually got him onto
the race track. He became a very good
friend to me and we had many hours of
pleasure riding with odd days hunting
thrown in. His fantastic nature and
protective attitude made him everyone's
best friend. We were very lucky to
find an exceptional loan home for him
where he could be with his beloved
friend Rupert. Wesley holds pride of
place at the yard. Both Rupert and
Wesley will hold very special places in
my heart as l had owned them both for
many many years. They both are now
enjoying their retirement in their
special home.

ONE OF THE KINDEST FUN PONIES EVER
Brenyn-Y-Maes aka Brenbren:- This
amazingly friendly Coloured Cross Cob
type would definitely be classed as mans
best friend. He really wouldn't know
how to even begin to hurt anyone,
including his equine friends. I
acquired this fellow from a local horse
show in Wales after seeing this little
yearling tied up against the box whilst
his friend went off to do his show. He
was just so quiet and not bothered by
the whole experience. I basically
bought him there and then. He was
shown with much success at local level
but we always felt he would go on to
make a lovely child's riding pony or
ride and drive. He has infact been
sold to a neighbour. They have broken
him to both saddle and harness. They
have also had success with him the show
ring. How brilliant, l still see him
every day. One of the nicest characters
you could ever meet.

Point-to-Pointer
John's Wager aka:- Johnny. This very
handsome bay gelding standing at 16.1hh
was beautifully bred being by the great
Ardross. Johnny will always hold a
special place in my heart as he was my
first ever Point-To-Pointer. He was
unfortunately dogged by leg problems
which lead to him having Lymphangitis,
therefore his racing career was
seriously curtailed after just running
4-5 races. This stunning looking horse
went on to do another job in a riding
school whereby he was in his element
leading out the rides with his new head
girl owner. It was always proclaimed
that he was the most handsome on the
yard and by golly Johnny really new it.
A beautiful handsome horse that will
never be forgotten despite the heartache
he caused me.

Mr Ross aka Rossy:- Yes the famous Mr
Ross who won the king George at
Hickstead whilst under the management of
David Broome. He was on loan via his
then female owner to me but due to the
rescue of two other horses( Kings Hatch
and Diamond Way) the loan period was cut
very short. I would have loved to have
got to know this very kind horse better.
He truly was a gentle giant.
This horse broke
my heart when he left the yard as he
refused to go back onto the lorry and
bolted back and stood centre of the
paddock he came out of. When he was
eventually loaded he kept whinnying. I
am sure he was saying goodbye. I just
knew l would never see him again.
Unfortunately that turned out to be true
as within a week he was put to sleep...
